Why you need RCDs.
RCDs are safety devices that must be installed in your home or workplace to prevent electrocution. An RCD works by cutting the power supply if it detects electricity leaking to earth at dangerous levels.
Western Australia state law requires all properties subject to sale, rent or hire to have a minimum of two RCDs. Having a minimum of two RCDs allows you to isolate parts of the property.
This means that if an RCD cuts the power to one area of your home or workplace, there will still be areas of the building where light and power remain.
All RCDs must be installed in accordance with the Electricity Regulations 1947 WA.
Smoke Alarms
It’s no secret smoke alarms save lives.
Under Western Australia state law all new builds or renovated homes must be fitted with hardwired (permanently connected to mains power with battery backup) smoke alarms.

As another added safety all alarms can be interconnected. This means that in the event of a fire (no matter where it is) you will be alerted as early as possible and are able to head to safety.
Most house fires happen at night when the occupants are sleeping so smoke alarms are you the first and in many cases only line of defence.
All alarms must comply with Australian Standard AS 3786.
